PCRL Unveils Schedule for the 2023 Men's Rugby Season

The Men's PCRL championship is set to kick off on June 3, featuring the Barracudas and the Mongrel, two long-time rivals facing off in Los Angeles. The following two weeks will see the Dead Pelicans and the Bandidos start their seasons with a match in Santa Rosa.

The season will run through June and July, with the final regular season game scheduled for August 5 in San Diego. On July 1, the four teams in the California conference will travel to Fresno, where the Barracudas will face off against the Dead Pelicans, while the Bandidos and the Mongrel will fight for supremacy in Los Angeles.

All four teams will play each other home and away, with games spanning California from Santa Rosa to San Diego. We reached out to each of the four clubs for their comments on the upcoming season.

Ben Calverley, Head Coach of the San Diego Barracudas, expressed excitement about the team's prospects: "The boys are raring to go. They've been training hard, and Coach Arnell has been working to get them in peak condition. We are in it to win it and head to nationals in August."

LA Bandidos Head Coach Emiliano Nash was equally combative in his outlook for the 2023 season: "I'm excited for the upcoming season. As a new coach and team, there will be some trial and error. But with the support of the players and Coach Phil Ayres, I know we can have a successful season. Being the new kids on the block, we have a lot to prove."

Club President Rob Beasley of the Santa Rosa Dead Pelicans shared his team's enthusiasm: "We are very excited to be competing in the PCRL this season. We are looking forward to putting our talents on display! Our leadership is hopeful that ending the season with two home games will put us in a position to win the PCRL championship in 2023."

Finally, Ady Cooney, PCRL President and LA Mongrel supremo, expressed his eagerness for the upcoming season: "We are bracing ourselves for an electrifying season as new players are stepping up to join the game, ready to claim their spot in the national level competition. With fresh blood joining the Mongrel and PCRL, we're anticipating a fierce battle for supremacy and an unforgettable season."

Full details for the Utah conference and post-season will be announced soon, including venue and ticketing information.
