Hot on the heels of the news of Sacramento Immortals’ entry into the League, Pacific Coast Rugby League (PCRL) can now announce a third Northern California club for 2024 - the East Palo Alto Razorbacks.
“Razorbacks Rugby League only has one saying - “rule number one” - and we stick by rule number one. Only the Razorbacks knows rule number one.“ said Razorbacks head Sam Tiger. “We are thankful and blessed to join the PCRL and get to play some rugby league games and help grow the game here in the Bay Area. Good luck to all the other teams out there, and remember rule number one. Thank you.”
The Razorbacks will enter teams in both the men‘s and women’s California conferences. This is an especially exciting development for the women’s game as it will create the USA’s first ever four team division, set to play a full slate of fixtures in 2024.
PCRL President Ady Cooney welcomed the Razorbacks: “We are thrilled to extend a warm welcome to the East Palo Alto Razorbacks men’s and women’s teams as they join PCRL. Their commitment to community engagement and strong ties within East Palo Alto exemplify the values we cherish in our league. It’s inspiring to see a third team from Northern California join our ranks, and we look forward to the exciting competition they will bring to the league. Together, we continue to grow the sport of rugby and foster connections within our communities.”
A well established presence in the Bay Area, both Razorbacks teams will bring passion and physicality to the League, making for a 2024 season packed with action from the San Francisco Bay to the beaches of Southern California.
